DSA.org:

Well-known cosmetics company Avon Products launched Mark – a new business featuring cosmetics, accessories and more – in 2003, with the goal of doing more than giving the next generation of shoppers a reason to try the products and fall in love them, but also to sell them.

“Direct selling is a great way to develop one’s entrepreneurial spirit, says Vanessa Reggiardo, Vice President, U.S. Beauty Marketing, at Avon Products, Inc. “We challenged these young women to tap into their creativity and create their own ‘mark’ on the world. It’s about having entrepreneurial choices, engaging in “social beauty and fun while making money and learning skills that will help them become the leaders of tomorrow.

Although Avon are launching great products all the time, they are beginning to find it much harder to recruit new workers into the business regardless of how they market the idea.

This is because they are concentrating more on profit than pals according to a group of Avon workers at The Avon Friends Forum and the reps and sales leaders are apparently starting to feel a bit obsolete with the advent of the Internet.

You can read the full forum thread at http://www.avonfriendsforum.co.uk over which Avon has no control so the members can tell it like it is without being penalised by Avon themselves.
