Quixtar - XS Energy Drink Review

November 3, 2005 by Ty | 53 Comments

I had a friend give me a Citrus Blast XS Energy Drink, from Quixtar. I thought it was pretty good and it didn’t have any carbs so I imagine this would be a great product to retail considering the low carb craze.

In my opinion most Quixtar products are next to impossible to sell at the retail pricing. I also find that most people who do any significant retail volume do not charge retail prices but rely solely on the volume bonus to make a profit.

So here comes XS Energy Drink; competitively priced and market relevant. A home run right?

Let’s take a look at the numbers:
XS Energy Drink (1 Case - 12 Cans)
List Price: $23.99
Your Price: $20.40
PV/BV: 7.54/20.40

The retail profit on 1 Case of XS Energy Drink is $3.59 or 15%. If you are 100PV in Quixtar, (keep in mind you would have to sell 14 cases of XS Energy Drink to move 100PV), you would make another 3% of $20.40 or $0.61. Total profit on a case of XS Energy Drink if you are at the 100PV level is $4.20 or 17.5%.

Even people in the e-commerce field will tell you that operating on a 17.5% Gross Profit Margin is tough. Let’s look at how competitive the product really is.

180 Energy Drink appears to be a competitive product. 0 Carbs, etc. $21.99 online at Beverages Direct
Red Bull Sugar Free 3 Carbs, $21.99 online
Hansens Diet Red, 3 Carbs, $21.00 online
XS Energy Drink, 0 Carbs, $23.99

If Quixtar IBOs want to compete they would have to drop the price by $2.00, thus leaving the Gross Profit at $2.20 or roughly 8%.

Speaking strictly from a product standpoint, I like the taste and the fact that it has no carbs, it’s too bad most of the sales of this product will be to folks that are already involved with Quixtar itself.

Quixtar IBO’s sell the XS drinks for $2.00 a drink. Quixtar IBO’s also don’t just get PV/BV from the XS drinks there are about 50 million other products that Quixtar IBO, Members and Clients may purchase. Thank you for your time! I hope you have a fantastic day and I appriciate your opinion.

  • Ty on January 25th, 2006 at 8:37 pm

    50 Million Quixtar products?

Can you prove that? Have you counted? I think Quixtar says they have under 500.

    Sniff Sniff…hype alert.

  • Ray on January 26th, 2006 at 5:24 pm

If you did have 50 million products you still couldn’t market enough to live on the prices at retail!

Those other crap of energy drinks are loaded with sugar. did some research and found out to be healthy for you with alot of b-vitamins. if anybody knows where i can get this email me @ mikej@gmail.com

Xs Drinks can sell and put an IBO at 700 PV as long as you know when to sell it. I experienced a large amount of sales at the beach. People love the non-FDA approved Monster Energy Drink. Hmmmm…..big can, big money, big heart problems.

  • mike on May 30th, 2006 at 10:32 am

mike j here i think xs is a great drink i mean from my point of view i used to drink more than 2 cans of red bulls a day and i always had a health issue. but now when i drink xs its been better, i can even drink more than 4 a day and its ok. i have more energy with out the crash effect. i love xs with theyre multi-flavored ones are hard to choose. looking forward to the cola flavored xs

  • Dan on June 10th, 2006 at 1:44 pm

Also, about the energy drinks… the cases may be cheaper, when bought at bulk, but they sell for less a can than red bull does when sold separately… 1.99. Red Bull at most stores are 2.14 or higher, at least where I live. Plus, check out bevnet.com. This is an independent site that just rates health drinks. Look up XS and then look up Red Bull. Consumer reviews speaks the truth… we all know Red Bull tastes like crap, but just accepted that because it was all that was out there. We all know the high caffeine content in Red Bull gives us a HUGE sugar drop. XS has much, much higher reviews according to both bevnet and the consumers that have voted. I think quality in flavor and ingredients gives a drink the right to be higher priced, in the instances that it is.

Plus, since you can basically buy all of your consumables from Quixtar, you are not ONLY getting PV from buying energy drinks. I get my PV from my entire team below me, first of all, and also from all of us buying our everyday consumables. All of the consumables are comparable or less expensive than Walmart as well (and MUCH less than Target or supermarkets), since everything is bought in bulk… for instance toilet paper by my own cost comparison: Meadowbrook toilet paper, sold by Quixtar, the smallest one is 24.84. This is for 48
rolls with each roll having 325 sheets, total of 15600 sheets. I went to
Walmart and priced Charmin two-ply. It was the big pack (since that is the
best value on Charmin). It was 12 rolls each roll 176 sheets, total of 2112
sheets for 6.97. I found out the cost of each sheet and multiplied it by
the 15600 sheets in the smallest Meadowbrook package. The same number of
Charmin sheets would come to 51.48! In the value size of two-ply
Meadowbrook toilet paper, 48 rolls of 450 sheets, total of 21600 sheets,
34.04 on Quixtar; Charmin would be 71.28!!! Then there is a Meadowbrook
one-ply toilet paper… 48 rolls of 1000 sheets, total of 48000 sheets, for
39.56. The Charmin would be 158.40! I felt this wasn’t a fair comparison,
though, since this is Meadowbrook’s one-ply. So, I got the price of the
cheapy one-ply toilet paper at Walmart and compared. Even that would be
    55.34.

Quixtar is fortunately much larger than the XS Energy Drinks and being able to order them at wholesale is a perk for the IBO. I have worked at Quixtar and I am very pleased with the results. Email me and we can talk about how you can be as well… dannahayes@qwest.net

  • Denice Muller on June 12th, 2006 at 8:18 am

I joined Quixtar about a year ago. I have not been real happy with the compensation plan. You do need quite a network or monthly sales to profit well or to cover your expenses even though the start up in not real costly. But… The drinks are well worth the cost if comparing the health benefits. The saying you get what you pay for is so true when referring to XS drinks. So if you would rather pay the $21.99 for an over priced soda (aka Red Bull) go ahead. If you want a good quality energy drink, you may want to look closer at the contents in each product. No other energy drink compares to XS in my opinion. Great business? Depends on you. Great drink, #1 hands down! Thanks and I hope this is helpful, Denice Muller

I’ve been an IBO since before Quixtar was Quixtar; yes that means Amway. I’ve seen and learned about different organizations and how this business has been promoted and developed. Dan has pretty well touched the point with the pin in that a lot of one’s success (or lack thereof) is a direct result of effort expended combined with the knowledge and wisdom of a powerful team of leaders.

You basically get out what you put in to this endevour as in all else in life. If you enjoy it as well, then that’s a huge bonus!

Don’t do as I do, do as I say. That’s what the motto should really be. It’s been two years and a few months that Quixtar - Alticor got greedier. Does anybody remember that blue front page that was a password protected entrance?
Have you done a Google search lately for any Quixtar name/product? They have gone to the furthest degree to solicit business direct to online shoppers. But don’t you dare post a link or use a product name to promote your business. You will find a threatening email in your in box tomorrow. Do you know who supposedly is benefiting? Not only the company itself, but the back stabbers on the IBOAI Board of Directors down to the platinum level. That’s right as you are out introducing the product you bought to promote to your friends, family, clients. Your beloved company is widely waiting to greet them on the internet to sell them direct. That’s why nobody has a chance to make it in Quixtar any longer. Yet I’m sure several of you will still miss the point of this post and write some stupid rebuttal.

  • Denise on August 31st, 2006 at 12:22 pm

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. That is what makes this so great! If we all agreed with each other, then life wouldn’t be so fun!

    Have a great one!

I’ve got to go drink down my XS Energy Drink.

See you at the next function! Or maybe not.

Hello, Just wanted to comment that you CAN do search engine advertisements now BUT you cannot use trademark names ie. XS, Artistry, NAO. It is in you Quixtar rules for search engines and advertisements. Of course the company can advertise but they don’t sell direct. What they do do is call on the nearest platinum in the area to service this customer. I know becuase they called my upline and they called me.
    Just my thoughts,

Very interesting comments. One thing I have learned from being an MLM opportunist is that your success comes from who you are not the company you choose.

The whole world says you can’t succeed and Quixtar is bad. ARE YOU GOING TO BELIEVE THEM? Or are you going to believe in yourself and take action start a business and make it a success.

I choose to believe in myself.

  • angelo on November 22nd, 2006 at 10:18 am

i ran into this and found this interesting. actually man you arise some good points but the profit is much higher than that.

you said at 100pv 3% is brought back due to the bonus scale and you need to sell 14 boxes to make that qualify for that 100 PV bonus. so with the boxes according to you being 7.54pv/20.40BV * 14 =105.56pv/285.60bv
take 3% of the BV 285.6 would come out to 8.568 round up $8.57
to even get a 3% you need to qualify 100pv right, why would you take the 3% from just one case when you qualify for the whole bundle you did 100 points for?
i dont know if you caught that but here ya go.
$8.57 is the real calculation for profit not $0.61 AND the retail profit you stated which is true of $3.59 add that to the $8.57 performance bonus youre up to $12.16 or 50.7% profit
now you also stated that if it were lowered down to be competitiveto red bull $21.99 online case XS would need to be lowered to that price instead of $23.99 a 2 dollar difference so instead of $12.16 it would be $10.16 which is still 42% profit.
Now I am not putting anybody down, just making sure the facts are straight

    take care and God bLEss
    Happy Thanksgiving

to be technical since 1999 yes quixtar does offer alot more than what people really think. now i wouldn’t say 50 million products however i would say at least 10 million and building upward. for a company that has 3 other companies that are umbrella under neath it yes since opening online back 1999 its stocks have split twice and there gross last year have boosted past 1 billion just in e-commerce alone. so don’t dis a company until you fully see the picture. also yes the energy xs drinks are somewhat there. however they manage to move up fast making them the second leading energy drink in the world not nation. red bull has been losing value to some european countries. france and denmark already banned red bull. your starting to hear more cases of sudden deaths from red bull. but yet you don’t hear about xs drinks. when you go buy a product do you try to find the lowest price right?! who doesn’t but when you compare quality versus price. and the difference is only a few pennies to a quarter difference would you preferr a drink that is safer or a drink that is boosted with caffeine by 200 to even 800%. also guaruna is the only non chemical man made caffeine. if it doesn’t have guaruna theni guess you don’t value your health as much.

I am sure that those who are reviewing this “review” by Ty recognize that Ty is invoved with another MLM that competes at least in some ways with Quixtar. I have been involved with this business opportunity for about 2 years and have found quite definitely that you get out of it what you are willing to put in…like anything else I have found valuable in life. However, for those who wish to use the system AS TAUGHT for making money, it can and does work. For those who don’t do what is suggested and recommended, it may well not, again, like anything else. I am making what I had in mind to make when I started and am now looking forward to increasing my income well beyond that level.

  • Richard on December 28th, 2006 at 12:55 pm

I just started as an IBO, and have been inquiring to friends and relatives with no luck.

So my thought is to hit the business that would use this product on a higher ratio than personal consumption. And that would be bars, resturaunts, health clubs, and businesses directly like cafeterias.

After all, think how much product can be pushed into these consumers mouths at a higher rate, My question is—has or is anyone else doing this?????

****And if so, what kind of prices are you getting for the product and what is your volume of sales like???????

****As the XSgear.com site has alot of of product that can be purchased to promote this business in the above locations I have mentioned..

I look forward to all serious replies,,,thanks…

I was in Amway many years ago. Struggled for several years. Quit and started again with quixtar a couple of years ago. I know have a very profitable business that extends in 16 different States. The difference? I found out that you a rewarded directly proportionate to the effort you put in to it. For the first 16 months, I did little, so I recieved little. Since then I turned up the steam and have created a large group, many whom which are succeeding Through a unique marketing sales plan I ran accross. In the past six months I have personally received 102 XS customers that all average five cases per month, and 73 Double X customers. Many of my downline are duplicating my technics and are very successful. My experience in life as an insurance salesman for 13 years has taught me that most salesman are not willing to do what it takes to be successful. They usually quit after 5 -NO’s. I’ve learned how to take the rejection factor out of the equation. Two other things I would like to address :
One person said that Quixtar is selling directly, if you sign onto their web. That is not true. If someone inquires to purchase from Quixtar directly, that person is credited to the closest IBO according to their Zip code, and the IBO is notified that they have a new IMC customer. 2nd: Another person said that no one can succeed with Quixtar. If you would keep track of the Achievers publication, you would see that around 500+ IBO’s achieve levels from Platinum to Crown Ambassador each month. Thanks for letting me respond to this Blog.
If anyone is interested in trying Quixtar again, I can show you how to be succesful.

My wife and I did Quixtar for a while with really no luck in retailing it. Anyway, a friend introduced me to a major manufactuer who makes products for all the giant retailers around the world. Costco, Walmart, GNC. etc. Anyway they have a healthy energy drink called ACT! Cost less than a dollar and is not MLM.
    ( I have no problems with MLM’s)
Dealerships are free and so are the web pages. Free samples to dealers with brochures. Very easy to do, kinda like a Sams club membership for free, allows you to buy at wholesale as a customer or build a large base of your own customers. No quota’s, only requirement is to purchase your own products at $59 every 60 days! That’s it..After 9 months I bought my dream car! A 1969 SS Chevelle convertible restored. Also looking at CLS 550 mercedes for my wife. I don’t say that to bragg. Just to show that if I can do it, really anybody can..

The whole problem about Quixtar business is lack of HONESTY. Pathetically, we are told by our upline to hide Quixtar/Amway when we prospect a client. Once I tried without hiding the name and result was immediate. He ran away. So if this is the Case, HOW CAN I BELIEVE THAT THE INGREDIENTS MENTIONED IN XS IS TRUE? What can be the health effects after several years when you drink too much of it and you are left at a stage of NO RETURN? Did anybody tested whether there is no sugar in it? Hard to trust these guys? Any thoughts?

  • Justin on May 23rd, 2007 at 6:51 am

Ann, to answer your question, the reason you don’t mention Quixtar when prospecting is exactly because of things like this. Take any subject you want and Google it. Your going to find hundreds of opinions, not all what you would like to hear. We live in an “MTV” generation, where nobody wants to do the research to find real facts we rely on other peopls opinions and feelings instead of trusting in ourselves. So people have a bad taste in their mouth about Quixtar because they read peoples blogs who poked at the oppurtunity for a couple of months, didn’t make millions and quit. Look at the ratio of people still working the same job they started in straight out of school or college. Life takes work, not just scratching a lottery ticket and riding it out for the rest of your life. As far as the XS, there are a lot of good comments on here. If you really care about quality in anything, just do the research and compare. There’s nothing else like it out there.

Oh great !!!! First we have AMWAY… then QUIXTAR. Now someone comes to my house trying to convince me I need to join THE TEAM. From all research I have done, this is nothing but either a MASKED name for QUIXTAR ( TEAM markets XS energy drinks which is supposedly sold EXCLUSIVELY by QUIXTAR or they are trying their darndest to immitate QUIXTAR. Heck… THE TEAM even has the same concepts as using terms such as DIAMOND, EMERALD… and the usual terms that QUIXTAR and AMWAY reps get. SO TEAM leaders…. dare to tell me otherwise ? Yes, I agree, XS drinks taste good… but then, I have only drank ONE…. Might ANN CRYSTAL’s health concerns heed looking into ?

    @Nurse Sheila
You make a common mistake in your comments about artificial sweeteners. Table sugar is a chemical named sucrose. Another common sugar is a chemical named fructose. All sugars, no matter which form they enter the body, end up being turned into another chemical named glucose. Everything the body ingests is a chemical of some form or another, it doesn’t distinguish between man-made or natural.

  • I Support on July 2nd, 2007 at 1:22 am

I have read these blogs and am just amazed at how many of you comment on Quixtar being a bad company and that is so unfair. You have very clearly not done the research that is warranted for you to bash a company. It is like the “finger in the chicken nugget” scam at Wendy’s or the rat in the cereal crap at Safeway. Does it not occur to you that Quixtar does not MAKE the items that they distribute? Do you blame Safeway if there is a rat in the cereal? Yes, most people are that narrow minded. However they do not MAKE the cereal, they simply sell it. So although we are not specifically talking about some gross thing found a cereal box distributed by Quixtar we may as well be. The fact of the matter is that Q.com has many many many multi level marketing companies linked to them and they (q.com) simply distribute end of story, they don’t supervise the MLM companies. The MLM companies do their own supervising and that is where the problem arrises. So if you have “tried quixtar and failed” the failure is linked to the MLM you were linke to, not quixtar. So you need to bash where bashing is appropriate. You should do a little research on the bonus’ issued by quixtar to customers for thier loyalty before you bash on them, does Wal-Mart or Target or Costco pay out 1,ooo,ooo.oo’s (yes millions) of dollars in bonus’ each year? No, I could be wrong maybe Costco (total) however Costco has a cap on what any single account can get each year…..$500.00. Quixtar has a compensation package that makes that look like monolopy money. DO THE RESEARCH! I encourage it, you may find out the real truth.

  • I Support on July 2nd, 2007 at 1:32 am

@ Prince of Paradise in Grand Rapids, MI…….I am sort baffeled by this comment…..
“Oh great !!!! First we have AMWAY… then QUIXTAR” are you not aware that Amway is not even in the US anymore and that quixtar was their supplier…..2 different things. Research is very important….you should really investigate THE TEAM …..before you start “dissing” them….This is not even the company (MLM) that I am affiliated with and I can tell you that THEY ROCK, if you work the system the way that they tell you too, you can and WILL be all that they tell you that you can become it just takes some effort and belief that you are worth all that you want. However beware of the attitudes that you will face in building your business b/c the ones like yours will be very difficult to get past….Why don’t you try reading “The Power of Thinking Big” or “The Cash Flow Quadrunt” these books (and many others like them) could change your life in a DRAMATIC way.

That’s right “I SUPPORT”. The Quixtar corporation paid out 350 million dollars to business owners alone. Their’s companies out there that don’t even make that kind of profit alone. Not to mention, another 70 MILLION that the corporation took out of their own profits to “beef” up the bonuses starting in Sept. As far as them becoming Amway again? I have not heard anything remotely close to that. I would like to know where you read that, I wouldn’t mind researching that myself.

Dan you are on crack. Internetretailer.com is a joke. Quixtar.com was rated as one of the worst and least friendly Internet sites by blastradius.com, ZDNet’s top ten worst sites, and many others. You cant honestly look at that site and say its one of the top.

Props to everyone who is doing well at Quixtar. I see so many people try and fail, but there is always a new group of people signing up and saying the exact same things.

The problem I have with the whole program is they don’t let you have a high enough markup to run a real business. I currently own 4 different retail businesses and I wont sell any product I cant get an average of a four times markup.

Just a little heads up to. The XS line of energy drinks shouldn’t be pumped as some sort of health drink. Just because they are Sugar and Carb free doesnt mean they are not packed with artificial sweeteners. One of the main sweeteners used in many of the XS drinks is Ace-K, which is one of the worst artificial sweeteners out there at the moment.

Acesulfame K produced lung tumors, breast tumors, rare types of tumors of other organs (such as the thymus gland), several forms of leukemia and chronic respiratory disease in several rodent studies, even with small doses.

You are way better off just drinking real sugar.

I was with amway for over five years. Made a little money, but because I had two really strong legs, that money didn’t add up to much. I struggled to make ends meet with what I was paying out. BUT I WAS A BELIEVER!!!! Nothing could tell me otherwise.
Where I messed up was asking my upline too many questions. Such as did the company make any money from the tools, who made the money from the tools. OHHHH! that was the wrong question. I received a stern reply, That doesn’t concern you at your level! Then they started blackballing me. I was, like, what did I do??
I started doing my home work and found out I could build just two organizations and make a six figure income. That was back in 1995, still with the same company and have never looked back. It feels a lot better when you can look some one in the eyes and show them a realistic pay structure that pays for real volume of sales and not based on the amout of people!!

If you’re going to call someone a LOSER than you might want to spell it right and God forbid, use lower-case letters and good grammar. Of course, what does the opinion of a lowly LOOSER like me mean anyways?

Hey “Buy XS Energy Drinks Online” nice ploy. I don’t know who’s team your on but I don’t think they would condone this way of getting people to buy from you. If they do condone this kind of thing, I have to say that it’s really bad practice since you are not getting to know your customers on a one on one basis. Which, is why what we do has such a bad name. I do applaud your creativity though.

We have found that on XS the market is lacking but with drinkACT where you can buy our energy drink pouches for just $1 per drink and our cans as low as $1.27 and even lower if you buy in huge bulk mixed with no upfront enrollment fee makes DrinkACT a top notch business to deal with. You can go to:

In my opinion, who cares if you are making $100 or $100K per month @ the Q* business. It is simply another business. The only difference is you do not have all of the traditional overhead expenses you would incur from a traditional “mom & pop” shop or some other franchise. It is something you can do at your own time and leisure. We all eat and drink stuff everyday, this company just affords you to the opportunity to make some kind of money off of doing these things. I’ve been doing the business for about 6 months & I really don’t listen to my upline, and I’m making enough income to fund the “tools” aspect of the business. And I really do not purchase them that often. Point is, it is a business, you will get out of it what you put into it. You have to be willing to really evaluate your personal finacial situation first to figure out how much money you are willing to put into this business regardless of what your upline is telling you. The whole point of you being an IBO, is this is YOUR BUSINESS, not your uplines. If you can’t afford to run your business the way your upline persuades, then do what you can afford to handle. They can’t fire you or suspend your “IBO priveledges”. The money that the “plan” says you can make is real, but you have to do things in your business to attain that income. It is your business IBO. Another point which I believe is the most important point of all is the tax breaks/write-offs you qualify for that you can’t partake in as an employee of somebody else. Even if you are losing in the business, you are still winning in the tax area compared to your co-workers who do not have a business. One more point, they tell you (or atleast they should) that it is going to take 2-5 years to earn a substantial income if you “do what you are told”. How long would you have to work your current job and what would you have to do or give up in order to earn an extra $1000 -$2000 per month residually? Well, let’s drop that even lower to an extra $100 a month? In my current profession, I would have to put some serious time in just to earn an extra $100/month. So just remember, it is simply a distributor business, you will only get out of it what you are willing to put into it.

Money Man, well put. You speak like someone who’s been in the business for years. You’ll go far if you keep that attitude and stay strong. If you want to go even farther looking at this. The lessons you learn about being acountable and being a person you can truly believe in no matter what other people think. You’ll learn more than you realize when you sit down and truly think about.
