I have recently joined an MLM. Can someone please give me some feedback as to if you think I made the right decision? I realize that we are still only in Pre-Launch or Ground Floor or whatever you call it. But How long should it take for something to really start bringing in some cash? I make about $400 a month which is not bad but it has been about 4 months already. When do the BIG BUCKS start rolling in? I want the STOCK OPTIONS! Thats why I got into this.. but I must hurry and move up some more "Ranks" so I can get my BMW bonus. Can anyone give me a little feedback on how long it should take to get a strong downline going? I only have about 150 people under me in 3-4 months. Please help!

Oh, I see....you wrote this in 2005. (Vemma, Usana, Passport, Xango, and even most of Quixtar (formerly Amway) ). All of these companies have such steep minimum requirements that distributors have garages with extra merchandise. Melaleuca has such a low minimum that folks are just using what they need and not ending up with stuff in their garages. Unless they are my relatives who are keeping a backup supply of one year because of their beliefs. :-)

If Melaleuca is an MLM then the insurance industry is an MLM, especially the life insurance industry. My father was a very successful salesman of life insurance in the 50's and his company asked him to train other sales people. He laughed, "Stop doing the things I need to do to be successful and train my competition. That really makes sense. Why would I do that!" That is where a multilevel pay scale was invented (period). My father started an agency and began training salesmen and teaching them how to train salesman and he was paid a commission override on every policy they wrote and every policy the agent below them wrote.

I had someone prospect me for Melaleuca and she said it wasn't mlm. I had to ask her then why she was prospecting me to sign into a business that would obviously want me to do the same. Thats mlm! I don't waste peoples time trying to obscure my business- I tell them what it is. I have yet to contact her back -its been over a year. -See ya

If Melaleuca was MLM, then the IRS wouldn't recognize them as CDM (comsumer direct marketing).

I can honestly say I agree with you. Melaleuca is a great company, they have great products, but unfortunately some people in the company have been trained to tell people it's not MLM when it clearly is.

They call it Consumer Direct Marketing, which really it is very similar in function and structure to an MLM or network marketing company.

It should be known that not all Melaleuca people are telling others that they are not MLM.

I have been in Melaleuca for 3 years and I am very honest with people when I tell them about the business side of it takes work.
I would be shooting myself in the foot I think if I told them it wasn't MLM. The fastest way to turn someone off is to come right out and lie to them.

Some of these Melaleuca people need to be straight with thier prospects about how to make the money in Melaleuca.

It starts with a proper presentation of the products they offer and compensation plan they offer to thier business builders.

It continues with marketing and selling to the right people, not buggin' thier friends and family.

Who cares if it is a MLM or CDM. If you can make it work than great! If it works it works.

Davud,

Most people do receive checks in MLM, albeit not very big ones.

Even if every "customer" in Melaleuca received a check, it would still be an MLM.

Melaleuca has every single attribute of an MLM, except the fact that they refuse to call themselves MLM.

Read my lips: Melaleuca is an MLM
