I recently investigated CDT, and came to the conclusion that in spite of the negative vibe of this and other blogs, the company seems very legitimate. In the first place it is NOT a fly by night type of operation, having been around for 6 yrs now. The company is a wholesaler of diamonds, and is based in Toronto, Canada. You can purchase your diamond for full price on the internet, or put a deposit on one and find two other people to purchase their diamond from CDT, instead of another company. The diamonds purchased from CDT are certified by the same company that certified the diamond my husband purchased from a well-know jewellery chain in London, Ontario. As to the pyramid allegation, in Canada, for the true definition of an “illegal pyramid”, the product itself would have little to no value, or demand. This is obviously not the case here, I cannot imagine a company like Gemscan risking it’s reputation on something like this, not to mention the reputation of a Queen’s Counselor. Also, unlike ANY other system that has a pyramidal form, the ‘top’ positions are not stagnant and every person who enters that table as a ‘miner’ has an equal opportunity to get to the top. I think perhaps what we are reading here is very much sour grapes on someone’s part. I haven’t decided yet whether or not to purchase a diamond from CDT and enter their trading opportunity, but I am certainly reading ALL of the information I find about it. Here is an interesting piece, where CDT actually responds to the slander on the net. GIVE IT TIME TO LOAD-

To Unconvinced:

The best way is to check the information online yourself. Canadian Diamond Traders has indeed won the court case in Australlia, and furthermore is endorsed by the majority who seem to know anything about it. Like in any other investment company, there will be those disgruntled who believe that they have been scammed. In reality, it is exactly like any other position in any work - you do nothing, you get nothing. This is the problem that a lot of people encounter. Many are told that this is a get rich quick scheme, and when they realize it isn't, they are the first ones to label it a scam. Think about how it would be if you approached a job in this way - You show up on the first day, do absolutely nothing, and subsequently get fired. Are you going to be angry that the comapny scammed you out of the money you spent on gas to get there?

The reason why some people so vehemently defend CDT is because of people like David Thornton who seem utterly devoted to destroy any business he can (and attempt to reap the profits). He attacked the company over and over again with absolutely no proof. Every article or link that he posted either (a) mentioned that CDT was BEING investigated (not determined illegal) or (b) completely unrelated to CDT.

For example:

As written by David Thornton above:

"Please for god sake click on this link and read the truth instead of being sucked in with lies from this dirty damn lying criminal JAY WATERMAN.

http://www.imf.org/external/pubs/ft/fandd/2000/03/jarvis.htm

Please come back to this forum and let us know if you still believe CDT is a legitimate business or a fraud."

The link points to a long and lengthy article about Albania's growing financial sector and how pyramid companies have taken advantage of it. Thats about as related to the discussion at hand as stating that you should not go to the beach in California because it's raining in Europe.

Hi all,

I'm also from South African and have been approached by a CDT rep(?). Im not saying its illegal and i'm not saying its legal. All I want to know is how can you claim its above board using people who received their diamonds etc as example? Bank robbers (maybe a more apt example in SA would be hijackers lol) also receive something, the money (or car) they stole. Do not get me wrong, I'm not saying those of you who are involved are stealing, all I'm saying is that you can't use a success story to prove wether it is legal or not.
However, all of you are very aggressive in defending CDT, it makes me wonder. . . . . "Methinks the lady doth protest too much" - Shakespeare

I'm very tired to heard people talk abut cdt like this, this is a very good opportunity to make money. People speak about that but they know nothing, for people who don't believe in CDT, don't worry, it's not a scam.

During the meeting with the CDT’s Director of Research and Development, David Thornton was educated on the inner workings of the company, how it differed from other businesses, and why it was legal. Unable to humble himself and admit that he was wrong about the things he had written about CDT, he presented this offer: If CDT gives him a couple thousand dollars he will admit defeat and work on CDT’s behalf. Who is the criminal now? In both an email to CDT and on a phone call David said “Why don’t we quietly do this? You take me to court, sue me, and I’ll agree with your side. You guarantee me $200,000 if I lose, and I’ll come on board with you.” Never mind that on his own website he is asking people on mass for donations to buy a minivan to drive around in with ‘Crime Busters Now’ on the side, the man who is leeching money off of the little guy for his asinine crusade now thinks he has a bigger fish on the hook.

David, who was once charged for the attempted rape and physical assault of his ex-wife, allegedly attacking her because she was a part of a business opportunity and who later left him; is unable to continue the battle with her, and so he has taken the battle against everyone that believes in freedom. David can often be heard giving long ego enriching speeches about his glory days when he interrupted the business practices of other companies most notably TTI, a now defunct company, once run by Allen Kippax. His claim to fame is having brought down this already failing company in court. Upon further investigation this turns out to be false and misleading delusions of grandeur.
