Experts on obesity from the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA) have designed a new, healthy solution to lose weight that contains the right balance of healthy carbohydrates and soy protein to minimize hunger.
Dr. Mario Rosenberg, a member of the US-based Herbalife Medical Advisory Board and an associate clinical professor at UCLA, was in the country recently to spearhead the launch of the ShapeWorks Program, which is now Herbalife’s flagship brand, and revealed the benefits of this personalized program intended for every individual’s body type and shape.
The key factor in the ShapeWorks Program is the increase in protein intake to control hunger and maintain lean body mass, which boosts the body’s metabolism and helps burn larger quantities of calories. For a balanced approach to lose weight, the protein supplement is combined with healthy carbohydrates from fruits and vegetables.
“Eating the proper foods and getting the right amount of vitamins and nutrients are just a part of an overall plan for better health, Rosenberg explained.
Dr. David Heber, director of the Center for Human Nutrition at UCLA and one of the minds behind this program explained, “My theories and philosophies of weight loss are reflected in the ShapeWorks Program. A healthy diet is one in which you eat an amount of protein in your diet that is matched to the protein needs of your body.
