Lena Brown and Kelly Kemnitz are busy moms who met through working as consultants for Pampered Chef, a company that sells kitchen gadgets through in-home parties.
Kemnitz’ mother had read about a new business franchise that a pair of Massachusetts women opened and she thought they would be interested in it.
The franchise is Dream Dinners, a Seattle chain of businesses in which customers come and make 12 main dishes for their families in two hours, in a party atmosphere. The ingredients are pre-measured and pre-cut, and employees clean up after them. Once they make one dish, the customer puts it in a freezer bag, puts on a pre-made sticker on how to cook it, and puts it on her shelf in the commercial freezer.
