The lobby of Aria Spa at Cascade Club is abuzz with determined women – but exercise isn’t top of the mind right now. Clothed in spandex and tennis shoes, they sort through racks of skirts, dresses and tank tops. They rifle through stacks of jeans, shorts and capri pants, periodically holding a pair of pants or a shirt up to their body, gauging fit. It’s a Wednesday morning and Kim Dozier has set up shop. Wearing a trendy turquoise ankle-length skirt spotted with beads that shimmer as she walks, Dozier moves through the crowd effortlessly, writing up sales tickets, refolding clothing and checking on customers – “that would look great on you, she tells a woman holding up a gem-studded tank top. A platinum blonde 50-something woman stops Dozier to tell her that she needs to order a pair of white pants because she needs them “more than life itself.
Dozier, 43, is the owner of Face Plant Clothiers, a mobile clothing business that she began in Los Angeles in 1989 and started up again in the valley in 2002. She is also part of a growing number of women entrepreneurs in the valley who are making money by selling products out of their homes, often times at parties. And we’re not talking just Mary Kay cosmetics and Tupperware: from purses and sex toys, to organic food, nutritional supplements and kitchen products, local women are running their own in-home party businesses and reaping the benefits.

Great article. Home party sales are a great way for women to take their products direct to their customers and reap the profits.
