Eight to five doesn’t have to be a workday. It could be the score of your son’s baseball game you managed to attend because you don’t work 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

It could be 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. because, as a night owl, you just happen to like to work those hours.
Imagine a morning without the shrill and rude awakening of the alarm — a job that lets you choose your own hours.
More Americans are opting for that flexibility. Eleven percent of U.S. workers were self-employed in 2005, according to the Department of Labor. An additional 15 percent set their own hours.
With technology, even corporate workers are taking on more flexible schedules.
“There are all kinds of things going on now that have changed the typical work day,” said Michael Farr, author of “Best Jobs of the 21st Century” (fourth edition).
Of course, not all jobs are suited to setting your own hours. Think lawyers, doctors and retail. But take a look at five that are.
