ADA, Mich. A lot of people probably hadn’t heard of Alticor until Dick DeVos decided to run for governor of Michigan.

They didn’t realize that Alticor came about almost six years ago when direct-sales giant Amway underwent a corporate restructuring.

Alticor is the holding company for Amway and its Web-based sister company Quixtar.

DeVos served as president of Amway and then Alticor from 1993 until 2002.It was a time of global expansion for the company.

DeVos played a major role in Alticor’s decision to do business in China, India, Russia and other nations.

That decision is paying off. Eighty percent of the company’s business now comes from overseas.Alticor reported six-point-four (b) billion dollars in sales last year.
