LabVantage Solutions, Inc. today announced that Mary Kay Inc. has implemented LabVantage’s Sapphire™ Laboratory Information Management Solution for its cosmetics testing laboratories. Mary Kay is one of the world’s largest direct sellers of skin care and color cosmetics, surpassing $2.2 billion in wholesale revenues in 2005.

Mary Kay develops, tests, manufactures and packages the majority of its own products at its state-of-the-art plants in Dallas, Texas and China where the products are scientifically formulated and packaged. As a a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) registered manufacturing operation, product quality and consumer safety are critical priorities. Accordingly, Mary Kay required a laboratory information management solution that could automate its laboratories to remove bottlenecks that affected production, as well as, provide full traceability of its products throughout the global enterprise.
