Coastal Vacations Dean Marino is Making Me Crazy

February 16, 2007 by Ty | 8 Comments

Dean Marino hurts my ears.

As some of you know, I subsribe to hundreds of RSS feeds in order to bring you the most up to date and relevant information about MLM Business Opportunities.

One of those feeds has to do with news related to Coastal Vacations. Well, Dean Marino seems to be the master of putting out press releases, usually at least one or two a week…that is not the problem. in fact, I like getting his press releases, but I can not stand it when he puts big fat loud audio embedded in the press release.

One can only assume that Dean doesn’t realize that many of the people that read press releases are at work and when you are at work, the last thing you want is Dean Marino blabbing about his business opportunity blaring through your cubicle speakers.

So not only does Marino lose potential customers and business partners by placing the audio on the press release, he also loses free press here at MLM Business Opportunities because we (readers and I) immediatly close the press release window once we hear his voice.

Want to put audio in a press release? Great. Make it super easy to turn off or allow people to turn it on themselves.

Audio and Video can be good for a website, but let’s REALLY dig into why these pr blasts happen. Marketing

    Here’s a really tough question:

If the call centers are SO GREAT then why are they not producing enough 2 up sales to eliminate the need for advertising? All the veterans of Coastal know that one of the great things about this business is after you’ve got a team of 5-10 people - you can stop marketing and simply support and train you team!

    Hello Jay

I can understand your critisism of the call centers, but as you know, many who join coastal never get qualified period no matter who they join.

The call centers are a good idea for those who really do not have the time or skills to follow up with prospects.
they do have a place in the Coastal home business world.

Do I use them? Yes. Are they my sole way of earning an income?

No, actually not even close, but I am able to generate my own leads and close my own sales.

Fundamentally, I feel that if you give support, the right training, the right tools and the real inside scoop how to generate your own prospects, I feel that you have done your members the best service you can.

Everyone markets, no matter how long we have been in Coastal.
McDonalds advertises and they have been in business a lot longer than we have.

One thing is for sure, there is more than enough to go around for everyone.

    Hope this helps,

PS MY team in in the multi multi hundreds (not 5 or 10) and I still advertise :-)

Interesting. So you feel that if we are with a call center that we don’t need to advertise? That’s rather illogical thinking isn’t it?

Please tell us what you are basing that theory on?
Advertising is the lifeblood of any business isn’t it?

To be successful in any business I believe the right tools, a good system, and the Director you choose are components to success.

Another question I would pose to Dean Marino is why all these press releases in the first place?

Is he really telling us anything new in his weekly broadcasts? Once you have read a couple they are all variations on the same theme, how great Dean is (reading between the lines).

He obviously realises that the releases get indexed quickly on google and has taken that fact and run with it.

Personally I can not imagine that he is telling his group members to do the same as I don’t see any releases but his and a handful of other directors.

Dean, for a change write something that your group can use and take to to the bank…

I for one stopped reading his releases 6 months ago.

    Sorry Dean

    cheers

    Hi guys,
For some odd reason this thread made me laugh.
Good to see some recognizable names.

    To Coastal!

Agreed Roger. Good to see many familiar names.

What’s with all these attacks on the call center? If they don’t think it’ll work, then just go about their business with the expectation that the call center will crumble in its due time.

    Otherwise, come and join us!

I guess that pretty much leaves one possibility to explain most peoples’ reaction and posture toward the call center…. threatened in some level or another.

Just my thought. I like the CC because as Maria points out, we can do business both ways, using the CC or traditionally.

Why Does Dean Marino do press releases?

Cause that is what I taught him to do.

One of my most successful students realizes that powerful PR does many things for you.

    1. Creates Backlinks to your sites
    2. creates instant high search engine rankings for the keywords you want to be found under
    3. gets read by all kinds of people, which lead to comments like this on blogs which perpetuates the leverage of a PR done right.
    4. generates fresh leads to Dean’s site, which he’ll follow up and send to his call center to close for him.
    5. Stays high in the search engines for months and years.
    6. Makes Dean stand out, and be DIFFERENT, so therefore gets noticed more.

This is a good strategy to use for most people who own their own business and are not regulated by a compliance department who tells reps what they can and cannot do.

Dean does it very well, learn from it.

The student has now become the teacher….

    woooo Jeff,

“This is a good strategy to use for most people who own their own business and are not regulated by a compliance department who tells reps what they can and cannot do.”

My issue with Dean’s releases have always been with the headlines he composes… like this :
“Coastal Vacations Director Dean Marino Releases New Travel Packages ” writing in a manner which suggests that he was the one who put the entry packages together…
