Driven by strong sales in Asia and North America, West Valley City-based USANA Health Sciences posted fourth-quarter earnings of 61 cents a share, compared with 54 cents in the same year-ago period.
The company said it expects between 61 cents and 63 cents in the first quarter this year.
Earnings grew by $16.7 million in the fourth quarter of 2006, compared to $15.4 million the prior year. Revenues equaled $99.8 million, up from $85.6 million last year.
Full-year earnings shot up 6.8 percent, fueled by revenue increase of $51 million or 15.8 percent. Earnings per share increased by 11.1 percent to $2.20 compared to $1.98 for the prior year.
USANA, which makes dietary supplements and personal care products, generated strong sales in Mexico. But the most dramatic growth occurred in the Asia Pacific region, where the the number of direct sales associates jumped by 9,000, said President Dave Wentz.
