Use Humor When Speed Networking

Palm Beach Post:

Lorraine Hernandez is a fan of speed networking’s abbreviated approach.

An independent consultant for Arbonne International, a health and skin care home-based business, Hernandez attended her third Power Networking event with the chamber in February. She came prepared, with fliers and a smooth spiel.

“The best referral for me is anybody you know who takes a shower,” she said, drawing laughs from her fellow networkers. “Or if they don’t do that, then they really need to see me.”

With only a minute to make an impression, Hernandez, 41, of Wellington, tries to use humor.

“I just want people to remember me in a positive way,” she said. “I had to get out of my box. It wasn’t something I knew how to do. I’ve been able to meet great people.”
