Herbalife Expects to Beat 1Q Predictions

Nutritional supplement company Herbalife Ltd. said Wednesday it expects to beat Wall Street predictions for its first quarter profit when it files its report in May.

For the quarter ended March 31, Herbalife (nyse: HLF news people ) said it expects to earn between 60 cents and 61 cents per share. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial are looking for earnings of 56 cents per share for the quarter.

The preliminary first quarter earnings figure is an increase from the company’s previous range of 52 cents to 57 cents per share.

The company also said it expects to report a sales rise of 12 percent to $508 million.
