Avon Looks To Asia for Product Concepts

Famous for herbal and therapeutic treatments, Asia can become a base for beauty-care products by using technology available from Western countries, says an executive with Avon.

“Asia has a history of herbal treatments and we want to take it to the next level by using technology to create something that takes the best of both worlds and increases the effectiveness of herbal products further,” said Janice Teal, vice-president and chief scientific officer for Avon Products Inc.

“What we like is more than just ideas in the basement,” says Avon’s Janice Teal.

“What we want to do is to use local know-how and knowledge to bring out products,” said Ms Teal, who heads the multi-million-dollar research and development arm of Avon. The company’s annual revenues reach close to $9 billion.
