WSJ:

A top seller of Mannatech Inc.’s dietary supplements has been found guilty of failing to pay federal taxes.

A jury on Friday convicted Raymond Gebauer, of Lake Sammamish, Wash., of four counts of tax evasion in U.S. District Court in Seattle. Mr. Gebauer is one of about 10 Mannatech associates, or free-lance sellers of its goods, known as “platinum presidentials” because of the high sales they generate through associates below them in Mannatech’s multi-level marketing system.

He became an associate in 1994 and his sales network, operating through companies he owned, was still signing up associates this year, said Karyn Johnson, assistant U.S. attorney in Seattle. He was a featured speaker in March at the annual national sales conference, MannaFest. In his book, “How to Cure and Prevent Any Disease,” Mr. Gebauer said that he owned a million-dollar home, a ski boat and drove a Lexus RX 300.
