Avon Products profit jumps 61%, beating estimates – MarketWatch

avon cosmeticsAvon Products Inc., the largest direct seller of beauty products, said third-quarter profit surged a greater-than-forecast 61% after its net income was boosted by increased fragrance and color cosmetics sales.
Chief Executive Andrea Jung also said the company, which had accelerated spending to help spur sales, will peg investment spending at the rate of sales next year, which she estimates will boost operating margins in 2008 to levels last seen in 2005.
