MLM Blog:

When your company doesn’t have a unique product, your only choice is to build your business on hype, false claims and other mumbo-jumbo.

Regardless of what some may think, people are not stupid. They will eventually find out that a product similar to MonaVie is being sold in Sam’s Club for $17.24 while MonaVie product is being sold for $39.

Interesting question. One belief is that you get what you pay for. While this is not always true, it is very often the case. While “Toasted O’s” may taste the same as Cherrios, a VW is not the same as a Mercedes (although both German-made).

There are a lot of fruit-based health beverages out there, but I have yet to find one near the equivalent of MonaVie in terms of overall nutritional value. Sam’s Club may be selling the product for 1/2 the cost, but maybe they are just selling VW’s.

Fortunately for both MonaVie and Sam’s Club, there is always a market for high-end as well as economic products, even if they appear to be the same thing.

From what I know about MonaVie, I’m not a distributor of it but I’m a XanGo distributor, MonaVie says they’ve patented the process by which the Acai berry is freeze dried to preserve the nutritional value. Without the freezing process, the fruit loses it’s nutritional value in about 24 – 48 hours.

Another question to consider is how does the quality of fruit a vie compare to MonaVie?

Sometimes, cheaper versions lack the same quality as its more expensive counter part.

In my opinion, quality is still a significant factor that is considered by smart consumers.

Google Fruit a Vie and see what you get!?!?!? Google Fruitalogy Fruit a Vie and see what you get?!?!
One might want to do some more research on Fruit a Vie before buying from Walmart.
When you find facts, let me know so I can do a true comparison with Mona Vie.

  • flavorthejuice on July 30th, 2008 at 9:38 am

It doesn’t look like Fruit A Vie offers its distributors an opportunity to earn some extra money sharing the juice…

Oh yeah, Sam’s Club will get all of the credit.

America is bombarded with big business offering us ways to buy their products. I realize change is hard for most people, but sooner or later the American people will wake up to the MonaVie ideas. Relationship networking and marketing has already started. It is the way of the future!

  • OnlineMLM on August 12th, 2008 at 7:53 pm

I don’t think WalMart will put them out of business, but they will certainly cut into their sales.

Another way to look at it: Perhaps WalMart exposing the product will help sales. You never know.

  • want 19fruits or filtered juice? on August 14th, 2008 at 9:07 pm

My husband and I went to Costco (they sell it there too) and compared the ingredients on Fruit a vie vs. MonaVie. The 1st ingredient listed in Fruit a vie is filtered water. The label also says it contains grape skin and seed extract. MonaVie is 19 fruits with skins and seeds all blended in. Not just an extract and there is no water in it. Looking at the consistency of the juice, it appears to be very watery like your typical filtered fruit juice. Those that know MonaVie, will see the difference. MonaVie is a superior blend, and there is no comparison. MonaVie will continue to prosper since there are people that expect quality not a bargain when it comes to their health. Like the previous poster says, it is the Mercedes of the açaí juice blend.

  • Daniel on August 31st, 2008 at 10:03 am

I believe that the only way to find out about the effectiveness of either product is to try both and compare the results. I have never taken Mona vie however I have started taking Frut a vie which I bought at costco for $16.99 and I have felt the difference. I don’t feel as full anymore and I am able to sleep much better at night. I have been taking 1 oz. with dinner. I blended it with a glass of Pomagrante/Blueberry Juice which I bought at Costco aslo. I would like to hear from you guys about the effects that either product has had on you .

I’m new to the Acai berry and Mona Vie. I’ve been doing some research and am trying to determine the amount of Acai in one serving (1 fl oz or 30 ml). The Mona Vie Active bottle is 25.5 fl oz or 750 ml. I wonder why the nutrition label does not have this information.

  • Niclas on September 1st, 2008 at 7:16 pm

In response to the 1st ingredient being water, that’s actually not true. If you look at the label, Filtered water is the 1st ingredient listed under “Other Ingredients”

The 1st ingredient listed under active ingredients, which is found DIRECTLY under the nutritional information, is freeze-dried acai berry juice (or something along those lines… I don’t have a bottle in front of me right now) I personally think whoever designed the nutritional label for FrutAVie needs to be kicked in the head because I’ve seen the arguement about water being the 1st ingredient countless times and I can understand why someone would mistakenly read it that way.

As far as the extract comment, a juice or skin extract is almost always more potent than just the juice or skin itself.

Regardless of how many fruit juices are advertised on the label, it really boils down to the ORAC units per oz. If I understand the marketing material correctly Monavie is around 1000 per oz I believe and FrutAVie is around 3500 per oz.

In the end I think it’s really what works for you. If MonaVie makes you happy and makes you feel good I don’t think there’s a price you put on your health.

I understand that there is a network marketing business built around MovaVie and I can appreciate the people out there that are making it work for them. And I can also appreciate the people that say “The big guys (Walmart/Sams/Costco) are squashing the little guy and we shouldn’t support them!”

But let’s not sit around and pretend that MonaVie is a better deal than FrutAVie because it simply isn’t the case.

  • Texas Girl on September 6th, 2008 at 3:40 pm

Yes Niclas, the MonaVie opportunity is a HUGE part of why we love it, but the juice is truly a much better deal, if in fact, you’re really wanting the best! If you look at the label there is no listing for “Other ingredients:” it is 100% juice, along with the added benefits of glucosamine and esterified fatty acids.
I thought I’d add a bit of info directly off of the MonaVie site since you must not have checked it out for yourself.
Glucosamine hydrochloride (which I mentioned before) is a natural compound found in the body that is used to help make and form cartilage. Glucosamine has also been shown to help lubricate, cushion, protect, and rebuild joints. Does FruitAVie have glucosamine?

Açai is a powerful yet delicate fruit, and much of its vitamin and nutrient content can be lost within 24 hours after harvesting, if not properly cared for. To preserve its full complement of nutrients, our açai is frozen soon after harvesting. This frozen açai is then processed into our unique freeze-dried formula, the most effective and nutrient-dense form of açai available.

What is the ORAC value of MonaVie?
Four ounces of MonaVie has an approximate ORAC value of 4,000 to 5,000 units. This is the approximate ORAC value of 5 to 13 commonly eaten fruits and vegetables. Health experts currently recommend consuming 5,000 ORAC units per day for optimal antioxidant protection.
(When an ORAC score is mentioned, it is the score that is tested when a fruit or berry is fresh, not after it’s been on a store shelf for who knows how long, so how do you know what the ORAC truly is in FruitAVie?)

Can you compare MonaVie and “X” product?
We understand the desire to do direct product comparisons with MonaVie; however, due to current company policy, we cannot provide side-by-side product comparisons. Direct product comparisons come with significant legal liability. It is simply best to not do them. We are, however, happy to provide you with some information describing the benefits of MonaVie’s fruit juice blend and the reasons that make MonaVie the amazing product it is. The açai berry naturally contains a good amount of heart-healthy fats—monounsaturated and polyunsaturated. Many companies choose to clarify or remove these fats from their açai products; however, MonaVie is committed to only providing açai that has not been clarified and that has higher nutritional quality. The number one ingredient in the MonaVie juice blend is açai. By looking at the ingredient list you can see what ingredient is the most abundant. Most of the time, in other products, açai is not the first ingredient, which could indicate that the product only contains a small amount. MonaVie uses freeze-dried and frozen puree of acai. By freeze-drying the açai, up to 100% of the phytonutrient composition is maintained. Freezing the açai puree also helps guarantee a significant amount of the berry’s nutritional content is maintained.

  • Label of Truth on September 17th, 2008 at 7:54 pm

Can someone please explain to me why Monavie claims to be so nutritional? From reading the nutrition label all I could gather was that for $42 a bottle and drinking 4oz a day I get my daily supply of Calcium and some iron. I could get that from an Orange for less than a dollar, not to mention that as a male, getting a daily shot of iron on top of what I already get through natural sources could prove to be potentially toxic. Not too mention that a bottle of Monavie containing 19 different fruits probably doesn’t contain much of each fruit to contain any real effect. We’ll never know though because Monavie won’t tell anyone how much of each fruit is in it. My money is on 1 acai berry per bottle.

  • feelthejuice on September 21st, 2008 at 10:37 am

Geesh, Yeah man, one berry per bottle. THAT makes sense. All of you need to do your research. Buy the products your wondering about and try them. I did..
Bom Dia and Zolah are as one person said above “watery”. What are “Natural flavors” ? and I dont want any guarana (caffeine hit). Went to Vitamin Shoppe, An employee there pointed me to some pills.(NO WAY) and then he showed me Dynamic Health’s Acai Juice Plus. Very … TWANGY..almost like drinking cough medicine, not to mention its cold egg drop soup consistancy. I have tried Xango. This was ok. Really had a lack of taste to me, but what I did taste was citrus flavors. I let a friend try some and she almost spit it out.

I will try this Frut a Vie someday, although I try to stay away from Walmart/Sams Club. It seams from reading the reviews above that its going to be like the Zola or Bom Dia.

Now With all that tasting going on I truly think that Mona Vie has the best taste and consistancy of all that I have tried so far. Great taste with consistancy of a medium pulp orange juice. Just to be clear, it does not taste like orange juice, its just the best way I can discribe its consistancy.

I also agree with the others on this site… you do get what you pay for. Do the taste testing folks, and you will understand.

Just my two cents. Have a great day.

  • Denise on September 29th, 2008 at 9:47 pm

I started taking MonaVie to reduce cholosterol about six months ago. My reading has come down considerably from 245, my blood pressure went from 130 over 70 (considered okay) to 119 over 60, I sleep better, rest better and with much more energy. I am 66, would like to find a less expensive ‘juice’ but don’t wish to change my good results. I may have to become a real sales person to keep up with the cost but so far so good!

    I AM A NUTRACEUTICAL CONSULTANT
    TRAINED IN DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS.

WHY DOESNT MONA VIE SHOW AMOUNT OF ACAI THE BEST INGREDIENT ON THE LABEL ?
FRUIT VIE FROM SAMS IS HALF PRICE
AND JUST AS GOOD IF NOT BETTER
    BASED ON FACTS NOT BS.

I KNOW MONA VIE DISTRIBUTORS MAKING $500,000 PER YEAR
SO THERE IS DEFINTELY ROOM TO LOWER THE PRICE.
THATS WHY SAMS IS HALF PRICE

  • Carolyn on October 12th, 2008 at 3:12 pm

Truth in Labeling shows there must not be much berry in the MonaVie drink. If there were, you would find a much higher (good) fat and fiber content on the bottle.

Looks to me like we’d be better off buying the frozen berry at Whole Foods and blending them into our own smoothie as part of a comprehensive wellness plan rather than a magic bullet fix-it-all juice.

This site might be a good source for research. http://acaiberry-products.com/maintain-nutritional-value-acai-berry.html

Products that are not unique can end up in Wal-Mart or replaced by another brand. It has happened before. And for a former weight loss company it meant all their distributors were left high and dry without a business.

  • Graham Pelletier on December 2nd, 2008 at 6:28 pm

GenesisToday.com has the best Acai product on the market. The only ingredient is 100% Acai. NO water or fruit juices to sweeten the taste. The amount per 1 oz. serving is 30,000mg! You would have to drink multiple bottles of Monavie or anything else to get that much. They are not an MLM and I am not an affiliate, just a very satisfied user. They also have 100% Goji, Noni, Mangosteen, and a combo product with all 4 super juices….all without anything else added.

  • Leah on December 4th, 2008 at 12:14 pm

It like asking “Can Wal-Mart put Mary-Kay or Avon out of business?

Makup is not a unique product. Yet the companies are helping bring people finacial freedom. Whats wrong with that?

  • Jordan on December 6th, 2008 at 10:34 pm

I was a monavie distributor, but i quit once I saw Frut a Vie. Frut a vie has an ORAC score of 3500 in one ounce and Monavie has only around 1000 per ounce. Also Frut a vie ends up being 8 times cheaper than monavie because the bottle is half the price and only one ounce a per is required.
I understand that monavie is of better quality and also tastes better but all that people see and understand is that this new drink found at costco is waaay cheaper, sold in stores and apparently is healthier….
How can I sell monavie with this product lying around?

  • anonymous on January 21st, 2009 at 8:45 pm

The first other ingredient in Fruit a vie is Purified Filtered Water! MonaVie does not add water!

  • Sabine on March 19th, 2009 at 7:37 pm

The Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry published a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled, crossover study on Acai Berry in August 2008. The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits of the MonaVie-patented vacuum freeze-drying process versus the cheaper spray-drying process have been scientifically documented. The results are eye-opening. For anybody considering using Acai Berry juice, please do your research – don’t just listen to the hype. As for Fruit a Vie, Xango et al – I am still waiting for your scientific research, proving that you are offering more than cheap competitive marketing hype. With 1.5 Billion dollar sales in four years, and 50% of the profit going back to the distributors, MonaVie will always have competitors. The difference to the competition is the fact that the company does its homework and backs up its claims with solid research. And for disclaimer purposes – yes, I am a distributor and pround to present MonVie products.

  • Keith on March 22nd, 2009 at 2:34 pm

Is there something wrong with water? I drink a lot of it every day…

I’ve just recently started purchasing and drinking Frut a vie, and I can tell you I definitely feel more energy. I’m sleepy anymore during my day, and when I ask myself if I feel tired, the answer is now “no”. It really does work. As for the taste, it tastes better than Mona vie in my opinion. Has kind of a cherry tint to it.

Anyway, I’ll continue buying Frut a Vie at Costco and enjoying its effects. You should too.

  • bj on March 24th, 2009 at 12:27 am

1 oz, orac 3500, $16, nuff said, frut a view for life!!!!

  • Wondering on April 7th, 2009 at 10:29 pm

Just doing research and haven’t committed to any one juice. I did look under the Better Buisness Bureau and saw Mona Vie’s rating is an “F”. The lowest possible rating. Mona Vie is not registered with the Better Buisness Bureau.

  • Ken on May 8th, 2009 at 7:29 am

This is absolutely hilarious to read all the posts of Mona Vie distributors quoting “science”. You may want to look at the realistic view of your own company first. Very poor scores in business ratings. MLM can at times provide good products but is a monetary scam to earn money for the top people.

I hope Costco/Sam’s does put companies like Mona Vie under. It is a free market after all right?

  • Simpleliving on May 16th, 2009 at 12:12 pm

Has anyone noticed that most Monavie sales people are ex realtors or mortgage brokers? Its kind of scary that their mind twisting tactics continue into yet another market now. Why cant these people just make something with their hands and be productive to society? I have used Monavie and felt absolutely nothing. My response to the person trying to get me hooked was gee, I eat lots of fruit in its natural form, I guess I dont need Monavie sorry to disappoint you.

  • Clo on May 18th, 2009 at 6:47 pm

I don’t know why you guys are so hung up on the ORAC Value trying to sound smart out here. Do you actualy know about the ORAC, HORAC, NORAC values are? and what they do? Well, 8 scientists behind Monavie have done this research and I guarantee you, the fake.a.vie has nothing to back their product up. The ORAC value in any fruit juice can be boosted by just adding Vitamin E. Did you know that? So, check the label of anything that claims high ORAC values. Plus having a high ORAC value going into your body is not healthy. A good healthy balanced ORAC should be around 400-900. Please get educated before you go and promote something being better than another product or else you sound like a fool. MLB, NFL, NBA have approved Monavie for pro atheletes to intake for recuperation. I don’t think frui a vie made the cut… Plus an all Natural Energy Drink coming out soon…What!!!!?
Watch the Indy500 this May 24th Car N0. 19. on ABC ….Nough said.

  • ben on May 29th, 2009 at 8:10 am

ebay… case of monavie $77. fruitavie and monavie are the same. actually figuring savings on tax and free shipping its probably a better deal.
