Market Watch:

Nearly 20 Team Mannatech athletes, a group of world-class athletes who serve as role models for today’s wellness generation, competed in the 2008 Olympic(R) Games. The team had a significant presence in Beijing last month — from Olympic athletes representing seven countries to an Olympic torch bearer and a sport announcer. Team Mannatech athlete Phillips Idowu of the U.K. earned a silver medal in the men’s triple jump competition. Michael Morkov of Denmark also earned a silver medal in the cycling team pursuit event.

“We are so proud of our athletes returning from the 2008 Olympic Games,” said former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Butch Johnson, senior director of community affairs and sports marketing for the Team Mannatech program. “Each of them embodies commitment to his or her respective sport and the resilience to reach the highest level of competition.”

Of the Team Mannatech athletes who competed in Olympic trials, 19 made their respective teams. Three additional athletes are participating in the Paralympics, concluding September 17.

The U.S. contingent included Christal Ransom, judo; and Clarissa Chun, Spenser Mango and Joseph Betterman, wrestling. Team Mannatech member James Johnson coached the U.S. wrestling team in Beijing. Jacob Pauli qualified to be an alternate on the U.S. pole vault team.
