Doreen Lightner’s full-time job is working on the farm she and her husband own.
Her other job is a group leader with PartyLite Candles, a direct sales company.
Those two jobs work perfectly together.
The PartyLite business allows for flexible hours that can work around farming.
“The nice thing about my PartyLite business is it fluctuates for me,” the Conrad woman said.
Over the summer, when things on the farm keep Lightner busy, she can spend less time on PartyLite. When farming slows down, she goes full speed with her sales business.
“It works perfect,” Lightner said.
In the summer, Lightner might spend two hours a week on PartyLite. In her busy season, that can increase to 30 hours a week.
Lighter has been selling PartyLite candles for about 10 years.
“I got started because our local PartyLite lady left town,” Lightner said. “All my girlfriends and I needed someone to order candles from.”
However, Lightner’s business grew much more than she expected. She now has about 30 people on her team selling PartyLite products.
There is real money to be made in PartyLite, Lightner said.

These are some very nice looking products. Should be a good selling product with Christmas around the corner.
