Usana Launches Probiotic Plus

October 29, 2009 by Angela | 0 Comments

NPI Center:

USANA Health Sciences today launched Probiotic Plus, a new probiotic food supplement. Probiotics help replenish beneficial bacteria in the intestinal tract, which can aid good digestion and enhance immune function. This new product will be available in the United States, Canada, Australia/New Zealand and six other USANA markets.

“We are thrilled to be able to introduce Probiotic Plus, as digestive health and immune function lie at the core of overall health and well being,” said Dr. Tim Wood, USANA’s Executive Vice President of Research and Development. “Probiotics have been one of our key research goals for years. Probiotic Plus sets the standard for shelf life and convenience and it contains a combination of the two most researched probiotic strains known. This product will bring probiotics to a new level.”

Probiotic Plus contains a proprietary blend of specific strains of probiotic bacteria that are clinically proven to survive the harsh, acidic environment of the stomach. Probiotic Plus is packaged in an easy-to-carry stick pack and can be taken alone or added to cold beverages or foods every one or two days to help maintain digestive health and immune function. Each stick pack is filled with 12 billion viable bacteria in a 50/50 mixture of Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG, LGG(R) and Bifidobacterium BB-12(R). These strains of bacteria survive passage through the stomach exceptionally well and colonize the intestines effectively.

Using Twitter For Your MLM Biz

October 29, 2009 by Angela | 0 Comments

BigNews.biz:

Social network marketing is a big must for all those starting out in their MLM business. You have the likes of Facebook and MySpace out there which are also great, but now we have Twitter!! When starting up in your business you don’t really want to be spending a lot of money on advertising not until you are earning a buck or two, so the best way is to start networking with like minded people on these social networking sites which is totally free.

Now Twitter is very unlike your other social sites out there, in the way that there is only a photo of you, a 160 character bio and a web link, on top of this you only have 140 characters to tweet about. Once you have set up your Twitter account its time to make your first post! The first most important thing to remember is not to sell, sell, sell. Post something that is intriguing and attach a shortened link to a URL, (there are sites where you can shorten your link for free) Post information that is useful to your followers. Ask your followers questions. Try to get them to interact with you. Yes you are trying to get leads for your business, but It doesn’t hurt to occasionally post something personal about yourself to remind your followers that you’re human too.

Don’t just tweet (post) your own articles and links. Tweet other news articles, tips, etc. that you find helpful and that are relevant to your followers. You can also post good quotes (either your own or other people’s). Many people post inspirational/motivational quotes.

Don’t forget to #RT (re-tweet) posts that you like. This is a great way to get respect of other tweeters, and this is another great way to interactive with other tweeters.

Thank new followers (send them a welcome direct message (DM)). It is common courtesy to follow someone back who follows you, but don’t be afraid not to follow people who you don’t want to follow, you will know who these people are.

Always Interact with your Twitter followers! Build relationships, provide good information and NEVER EVER try to sell them. Offer help and eventually you will start to reap your rewards by getting leads to your business.

Women Find Ways To Generate Revenue In Tough Times

October 28, 2009 by Angela | 0 Comments

Pacific Coast Business Times:

Marilyn Lewis has seen a few recessions in her lifetime, but the Thousand Oaks resident has always had a back-up plan. Like almost 15 million other women in the U.S., Lewis is a direct seller — she sells cosmetics to other women from her home.

Although it may conjure up images of ’50s Tupperware parties, direct selling isn’t just for housewives with too much time on their hands anymore – anything but. When the going gets tough, women are often called upon to supplement their household incomes, and direct selling — whether it be cosmetics or kitchenware — lends itself as a practical way for many to do that.

The number of direct sellers in the U.S. first jumped to more than 5 million in the recession of the early ’90s. Then, when the dot-com bust and the subsequent recession of the early 2000s rolled around, that number jumped to more than 12 million.

Do Your Homework Before Starting A Direct Sales Biz

October 28, 2009 by Angela | 0 Comments

MiamiHerald.com:

For a parent, it sounds like the best of both worlds: working from home so you can make money and spend more time with your kids.

The lure of work-at-home companies is especially enticing at a time when many moms can’t afford to be without employment anymore and even those who have an outside job may need a second source of income.

But how do you know what’s legitimate and what’s a scam?

“Work-at-home opportunities are attractive to scammers because scammers have easy access to the Internet, job postings, even the classifieds in newspapers,” said John Breyault, vice president of public policy for the National Consumers League. “There are a lot of pyramid schemes out there masquerading as multilevel marketing.”

The big difference between the two, he said, is while multilevel marketing companies such as Amway and Mary Kay offer legitimate products for sale, pyramid schemes offer nothing but promised compensation for recruiting others.

Neil Offen, president of the Direct Selling Association, a national trade association based in Washington, D.C., said there are two questions you should ask before venturing into business with a direct-sales company:

Do you risk financial loss? By being involved with the company, could you lose money? “If you have to buy anything, ask, `Will you buy this back, and at what price?’ ”

How do you earn money? Is the money you’re making coming from the sale of a product or from recruiting people? “If it’s from recruiting people, it’s a scam,” Offen said.

The Direct Selling Association, www.dsa.org, boasts high-profile members such as Avon, Pampered Chef, Mary Kay, Amway and Herbalife. It has a strict code of ethics that member companies must follow, Offen said. One of its key edicts is its buyback program. If an individual quits, the company must buy back any inventory purchased in the prior 12 months for 90 percent of its value.

Self-Employment Balloons In Recession

October 27, 2009 by Angela | 0 Comments

Canada.com:

Monique Hardy wasn’t concerned when her husband’s marketing contract expired in June 2007 because he instantly searched for a new job or contract. Then he ruptured the tendons in both of his kneecaps playing a softball game and was put out of action, with no immediate recovery in sight.

Her husband had to call off job interviews and that’s when the feeling of unease set in for the mother of five children.

He toyed around with various work-at-home business concepts, but was unable to make them viable enough to pay the bills as a primary source of income. But Hardy, who previously worked in the dental field, had an idea.

Maybe she could become her own boss, but she needed a concept.

“If I was going to do something to help make a living, it was going to have to be something where dad and I could take turns taking care of the children,” says Hardy.

She heard about a direct sales jewelry company, Silpada Designs, that had just come to Canada and began investigating it in May 2008. By June, she was fully focused on making her new career as a Silpada direct sales representative a success.

“It’s just been awesome,” says Hardy. “It’s allowed my husband to make a change. For now and for the last year, we have been living off my Silpada income and I think that’s a phenomenal thing, considering we’ve got the mortgage and five kids.”

Pink Tools Tough Enough For Any Project

October 26, 2009 by Angela | 0 Comments

cbs11tv.com:

Kate Julian pulls out her pink drill from her pink tool belt. The mother is getting ready to put up a ceiling fan in her home near Aubrey in Denton County.

“I’ve never been too intimated to take on a project,” says Julian.

She’s not intimated because she’s got a secret weapon – a shiny set of pink tools. From hammer’s to drills to jumper cables it’s all pink and made just for women.

“These are the real thing,” explains Julian “You can use these on a daily basis and they are not going to break.”
Julian points to her display of Tomboy Tools and says they weigh less and are easier to hold.

About a year ago Julian discovered the pink tools and has been hosting house parties ever since. It’s like a Tupperware party, but with tools.

On this Wednesday a group of women meet her to learn more about the tools.

“I’m not handy at all,” says Crystal Miller. The single mother says she got tired of running to her father for help around the house and wanted to be more self sufficient.

“He’s handy he’s always been the one to do everything and then I got married and my husband did everything and then after I got divorced there was no one to do everything,” says Miller.

NJ Candidate Brings A Little Sex Into The Office

October 26, 2009 by Angela | 0 Comments

digtriad.com:

One candidate for state office in New Jersey has a unique career: She hosts sex-toy parties.

Stepfanie Velez-Gentry, a Republican candidate for the State Assembly, is the owner of a company called Nookie Parties. She makes a living organizing parties for women and couples at which she sells sex toys, lotions, games, lingerie and other erotic items.

The 29-year-old likens them to Tupperware parties, but more memorable. It’s a job, but she says it’s also a great way to meet voters.

Velez-Gentry is vying for one of two open seats against two well-known contenders in the strongly Democratic district.

PartyLite Offers Flexibility With Direct Sales

October 23, 2009 by Angela | 4 Comments

Great Falls Tribune:

Doreen Lightner’s full-time job is working on the farm she and her husband own.

Her other job is a group leader with PartyLite Candles, a direct sales company.

Those two jobs work perfectly together.

The PartyLite business allows for flexible hours that can work around farming.

“The nice thing about my PartyLite business is it fluctuates for me,” the Conrad woman said.

Over the summer, when things on the farm keep Lightner busy, she can spend less time on PartyLite. When farming slows down, she goes full speed with her sales business.

“It works perfect,” Lightner said.

In the summer, Lightner might spend two hours a week on PartyLite. In her busy season, that can increase to 30 hours a week.

Lighter has been selling PartyLite candles for about 10 years.

“I got started because our local PartyLite lady left town,” Lightner said. “All my girlfriends and I needed someone to order candles from.”

However, Lightner’s business grew much more than she expected. She now has about 30 people on her team selling PartyLite products.

There is real money to be made in PartyLite, Lightner said.

Direct Sales Is Booming

October 22, 2009 by Angela | 0 Comments

Prairie Business Magazine:

Brenda Koppy first became a Pampered Chef consultant to earn some fun money.

Less than five years later, she’s bringing in $3,000 to $4,000 a month on average. Koppy has more than replaced her full-time social worker’s salary, and she’s doing it in 15 to 20 hours a week.

Koppy is one of an estimated 15 million people in the U.S. involved in direct sales totaling more than $30 billion annually, according to the Direct Selling Association, a national trade association located in Washington, D.C.

Worldwide, more than 66 million people are tied to direct sales, generating more than $100 billion in annual sales, the association says.

Direct sales involves selling products person-to-person, away from a fixed retail location and often through in-home product demonstration parties.

Consultants, regardless of education or employment background, can generate incomes ranging from a few hundred dollars a month to six-figure annual salaries.

After about a year and a half with Pampered Chef, Koppy decided to make direct sales her full-time job.

“As a social worker, I was on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, pretty much,” Koppy said, adding that now she is in charge of her own schedule.

Even though the economy has suffered, her business has thrived.

Koppy is recruiting more consultants as people look for ways to make extra money during tight economic times. She’s also selling more products – kitchen utensils, spices, rubs and sauces – as consumers realize they need to eat at home instead of going out to restaurants, she said.

Ready For A Jewelry Party?

October 22, 2009 by Angela | 1 Comment

Metro News:

Breaking the mould of the traditional direct sales model, Silpada Designs is showing Canadian women they can make their entrepreneurial ambitions sparkle by selling jewellery in a casual, party setting that focuses on fun instead of formality.

Silpada was founded in 1997 in the United States by stay-at-home moms and self-made entrepreneurs Bonnie Kelly and Teresa Walsh who had wanted to come up with a way to earn some income while still being able to take care of their kids.

They took their combined passion for designing and selling jewellery and started Silpada on the philosophy that direct sales works best when there is no pressure and customers can explore the product with their friends.

The formula is simple: Silpada reps set up parties where women and their friends try on and buy jewellery without any formal sales speeches to wade through. Arrival times are casual, there’s no pressure to buy and parties usually run for a few hours.

At the end of the night the rep earns a commission of 30 per cent of the sales total and the hostess who offered her house to be used for the party receives the same 30 per cent of total sales in credit for free jewellery.
