Nanaimo Daily News:
Julie Munro has something in her Mary Poppins bag of tricks and treats for every woman, naughty or nice.
Munro takes the yawn out of practical Tupperware or candle parties and assists women in finding a little something to add a spark into their love lives with adult parties.

The 30-year-old entrepreneur turns living rooms into romantic boutiques for an evening, where mothers, wives, brides-to-be or girlfriends can gather out of the public eye to peruse through lingerie, spa products and romance accessories.
The professional sales agent for UndercoverWear isn’t shy about her classy adult parties.
Not everyone is comfortable enough to stroll into a lingerie store and adult toy stores are definitely a place where most women would still be too shy, intimidated or scared to enter because of the stigma attached to sex toys and their relationship with the pornographic industry. Adult parties have been in the mix since the 1970s, but they took a dive in the ’80’s when AIDS came onto the scene. Munro had heard about “these types of parties” before but it wasn’t until three months ago when a friend hosted a party that she discovered how harmless and fun they actually are.
Munro, a mother of two, saw a business opportunity, which would allow her to spend her days with her children while her husband works. Then, she escapes at night to help zest up the love lives of women in Nanaimo.
When Munro arrives at the hostess’s house, she starts off her presentations on the lighter side, showing off silky one and two piece lingerie sets, cozy pajamas and then spins into lotions and potions before she pulls out her “bag of buzz.”
The parties are not about being kinky, but rather an opportunity for women to pamper themselves and maybe learn something about their bodies that they didn’t know.

NIR Diagnostics Inc. (TSXV: NID), an Ontario-based medical test developer, says it is scrapping licence deal with Shaklee Corp. over a payment dispute under the agreement.

NIR said Monday it had exercised its right to terminate the August, 2006 licence deal with U.S.-based Shaklee “arising from its failure to pay amounts to NIR Diagnostics when due.”
“As previously disclosed, Shaklee disputes that it has breached the licence agreement,” NIR said in a release.
NIR makes handheld testing devices that can be used to test foods and other products.
“With sales in the global nutraceuticals industry projected to reach $187 billion by 2010, and with only expensive and time consuming laboratory testing available to monitor the impact of these products, this market is an ideal application of our non-invasive technology,” said Duncan MacIntyre, president and CEO of NIR Diagnostics.
NIR develops near-infrared, spectroscopic medical diagnostics and has a portfolio of optical, electronic and algorithm related patents for use in blood analysis.
Shaklee Corp., based in Pleasanton, Calif., is a maker of nutritional and weight loss products as well as environmentally friendly cleaning supplies for the home.

Mannatech (NASDAQ: MTEX) disclosed on Friday that it had received a Wells Notice from the SEC, indicating that the commission may pursue enforcement action.

In the press release, Mannatech said that the notice is “related to the timing and completeness of Mannatech’s October 2007 disclosure regarding its dismissal of Grant Thornton LLP as its independent registered public accountants.”
Back in October, when Mannatech fired Grant Thornton, I questioned the timing and rationale of the decision and now it seems the SEC isn’t satisfied with the company’s reason for the end of the relationship. Amazingly, shares of Mannatech didn’t tank today, but they should have: the integrity of the company’s management, directors and disclosures has been called into question, and if you don’t know if the company is telling the truth, it’s hard to tell how much it’s worth.
